Jessica's Class's End of the Year Party

Today, the next-to-the-last day of school, Jessica's class had their end of the year party! Mrs. Woodruff supplied the cupcakes and ice cream, and the kids/parents brought plates, napkins, M&Ms, etc. And after the food, Mrs. Woodruff gave out the class awards!

Elyse's Graduation from St. Matthew's Preschool

Tonight was Elyse's official graduation from Pre-K at St. Matthew's Preschool!

It's also the end of an era, in a way: We're completely done with St. Matthew's Preschool. It has been a great experience, and we're grateful for everything our children have done there. Believe it or not, I will miss taking Elyse there every morning. However, she really wants to go to the big school -- J.C. Magill, where Jessica goes -- for kindergarten next year.

And she will: earlier this morning I went and registered her there. Next Wednesday she'll go to Kindergarted Round-Up, and at the end of July she'll attend four days of KinderCamp, and then in August, she'll start kindergarten for real!

End-of-the-Year Luau at St. Matthew's Preschool

Today, the second day of the final week of school at Elyse's preschool, was the annual Luau. We went and ate Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets, watched the other kids dance (Elyse and Jessica didn't want to), and then went out to the playground to play and jump on the bouncy things.

We hadn't planned for Jessica to be there, but she came home from school sick yesterday, and didn't feel like going back to school this morning. She had a good time at the Luau.

Self Portrait from the Nineteenth Century

A few days ago I made some self portraits, then spent some time over the weekend playing around with them. I was going for a nineteenth century Matthew Brady kind of feel here, and I think I got it.

Elyse's Ballet Recital

Tonight was Elyse's ballet recital! (Actually, it was her dance recital, since they do tap and ballet, but we just call it the ballet recital.) Elyse's class this year was very large, fourteen girls, I think, and they did a great job.

Since Elyse will be going to kindergarten at the public school next year, this is likely her last year in ballet, and her last recital. We're sure that she and Jessica will continue doing performances at home, though!
