Twenty-Five Years Ago Today

Twenty-five years ago today I graduated with my B.A. in English from Georgia State University! I've since completed a couple of other degrees--and also started a few that I didn't finish--but this was the only time I actually went through the graduation ceremony.

Self Portraits

This morning while the girls were in school, I used some of my free time to make some self portraits.

(The second and third are the same picture, just cropped differently and one's black and white.)

First Stone Mountain Visit of 2015

Today was a beautiful Spring day (though spring proper won't actually start until Friday), so we went to Stone Mountain for our first visit of this year.

Donuts with Dad

Today was Donuts with Dad at Elyse's school! Since she'll be going to JC Magill for kindergarten next year, this is the last time I'll ever experience one of these wonderful events.

First, all the kids sang their "we love you, Dad" songs to us:

Then we ate donuts:

Mostly, actually, I ate donuts. Elyse ate a few donut holes and part of a donut, and I ate about four donuts.

March Snow

This morning, two weeks before the first day of spring, it snowed. It didn't last long, and the temperature was 35 by the time we left to take the girls to school and 50 by the time I picked them up, so there was no lasting accumulation. However, this is all we got this year that stuck at all.

Design on a Dime

This morning on the way to school, Elyse, reflecting on the HGTV shows she and her sister and their mommy like to watch on Netflix, said to me, "Daddy, I don't like 'House Hunters' because that's too boring. I just like 'Design on a Dime' because it's more creative."

Then she told me that when she got home this afternoon, she was going to do a Design on a Dime in our house (that's basically when she and her sister go around rearranging stuff without Mommy and Daddy's permission). However, Jessica had to come home sick at noon today, which is unfortunate, but it did have the fortunate side effect of making Elyse forget about her Design on a Dime plans.
