The Nabisco Go-Paks DIY Diffuser: Outdoors VersionSo you've made the Nabisco Go-Paks DIY Diffuser, as described here, but you're wondering if it's going to do you any good when you're shooting outdoors. Of course, most of the time when you're shooting outdoors, you don't need flash anyway, at least not during the day. But what if your subject is in the shade? Or, perhaps you're shooting indoors, but the room has very high ceilings which render the bounce flash aspect of the open-top diffuser useless; what then? The solution, or at least my solution, is to make a top for the diffuser to help direct more of the light forward. Examine these two pictures of me, both taken outdoors late in the afternoon when my house casts a shadow over much of my backyard:
The picture on the right demonstrates how even outdoors the flash/diffuser combination can be useful. It helps a great deal, however, to use the lid described below. (I will be adding the directions for this very soon.)
